We Aim High!

Our School Advisory Council recently approved our School Improvement Plan for this year and has submitted it to the School Committee. In the plan, we have identified 6 major goals for our school this year. Each goal consists of action steps to reach it. With all students, teachers, staff, and families working together, we are optimistic that we can achieve these goals.

Our goals include greater technology integration at all grades, implementation of safety protocols within the district safety plan, addressing diverse learning needs of all students, expanding teacher expertise through professional development, and promoting student interpersonal development and a positive school culture.

We encourage you to review our plan that is posted on Edline. We'll highlight goals as we go through the year and use this blog to get your feedback.

Please feel free to give your opinions on the plan in the "comments" section. We'd love to hear your thoughts on technology and anything else that you might like to see here at Joshua Eaton.

Curriculum Nights

Join us for Curriculum Nights next week. Parents of students in grades 3, 4, and 5 are scheduled to visit on Tuesday, Sept. 15th and parents of students in kindergarten, 1, and 2 are invited to school on Thursday, Sept. 17th. Both evenings will begin with an opening session at 6:30 PM in the gym. Mrs. de Garavilla and Mrs. Rhodes, our PTO President, will welcome everyone and share some pertinent information for this school year. At 7:00 PM, all parents will hear presentations from classroom teachers. The location of the presentations will be announced in the gym. Presentations will end at 7:40. PTO will serve refreshments in the lobby until 8 PM. This is a most informative evening, and we hope you can attend. Please note that the opening sessions will be the same so you only have to attend one. See you next week!

Welcome to our new school blog!

Welcome to Joshua Eaton Jottings, the offical blog of our school. This is a new way for us to communicate with families and to solicit feedback on topics and happenings at our school. It is not meant to replace our weekly communication through the Jaguar Tracks but to allow for more of a conversational approach to what's happening.

Today's topic is our upcoming site visit as part of the Blue Ribbon National Institute to be held in Reading next week. We are proud to showcase the exciting learning and are eager to share best practices that our teachers use. There will also be an opportunity for our visitors to see our technology in action from SMARTBoards to the COW to our newest, Voice Thread. Our teachers have dedicated much time and collaboration to moving forward with our technology integration. We are sure that our guests will leave with many new ideas! Our district is a true leader in this area and with the advancement of 21st century skills.

Please feel free to comment on our technology and how it has impacted your child's learning.
